In the same way that cigarette smoking was considered safe not too long ago (even the surgeon general promoted the safety of cigarette smoking in the 70’s and 80’s), governments and other agencies are claiming that the radiation emitted by 5G tech is not harmful.

While 5G is going to advance technology on an immense scale, should the potential health hazards that it poses not be a priority? Should the government as well as environmental and safety agencies not take a longer look at the threat or at least institute measures to protect the general public from the radiation?

The obvious answer to this question may be yes but the issue is far more complicated than that. So far, there is no confirmed scientific evidence to suggest that the radiation emitted by 5G technology is harmful. On the other hand, there is not evidence to say that it is safe either.

What The Science Says About 5G

The scientific evidence regarding the safety of radio-frequency radiation emitted by 5G technology is complicated and has created more confusion than clarification. The amount of radiation that will be bombarding our bodies when the networks are turned on has been estimated to be equal to that of turning on a microwave and leaving the door open.

The question is how can this amount of radiation not be harmful?

We are constantly surrounded by radiation and our bodies continuously absorb harmless amounts from the natural and man-made world around us. This harmless radiation consists of radio-frequency waves that do not change the structure of human cells or DNA and therefore have for decades been considered to be safe.

Ionizing radiation on the other hand is extremely hazardous to the human body. This is the type of radiation that is emitted by radioactive substances and technology such as x-rays. Ionizing radiation causes severe structural damage to cells and DNA resulting in diseases such as cancer as well as gene mutations.

The 5G tech emits radio-frequency waves which are “safe” and that should be the end of the discussion. However, new scientific evidence suggests that this radiation may not be as safe as we once believed. The World Health Organization has recently categorized radio-frequency radiation as a potential 2B carcinogen. Carcinogens cause cancer and other health conditions.

It must however be noted that caffeine and talcum powder (which contains asbestos) are placed in the same 2B category. While these substances can result in certain types of cancer, it may take an large amount or extended exposure to the substances for them to have accumulated carcinogenic effects.

A far more convincing study published by the National Toxicology Program showed that rats who were exposed to 2G and 3G radio-frequency radiation developed cancerous tumors. This study, conducted over a 10 year period, exposed the rats to levels of radiation that far exceed the amount that a human could ever be exposed to. It is therefore highly unlikely that humans can develop cancer from exposure to 2G and 3G radiation emitted from mobile phones and other technology.

However, whether the huge amounts of radio-frequency radiation emitted by proposed 5G tech is sufficient to be carcinogenic remains to be seen. These studies also do not take into consideration the effects of radio-frequency radiation exposure in conjunction with other known carcinogens that we are exposed to every day.

So is 5G technology hazardous and can it result in cancer, gene mutations and other diseases? At this point in time, there simply is no definitive answer.

What is clear is that much more research needs to be performed. But governments and large corporations are going ahead with laying out the infrastructure for 5G regardless of this. In the meantime, it is recommended to take safety precautions and implement ways to protect yourself from the potentially harmful radio-frequency radiation that is emitted by 5G technology.

How To Protect Yourself From 5G And Other Radio-Frequency Radiation

There are a number of different ways in which you can limit exposure to EMF (Electromagnetic Frequencies) that may be harmful and protect yourself from the potentially damaging effects of radio-frequency radiation.

  1. Limit Exposure

Limit the amount of time and duration you spend on your phone or other mobile devices. Keep the devices a minimum of 5 to 10 feet away from your body when not in use. Charge your phone or tablet in a room other than where you are sleeping. It is in fact not recommended to have mobile devices in the bedroom at all or in a room where you spend the majority of your time.

  1. EMF Measurements

Buy a device that measures EMF in the home. These measurements will provide a better idea of where the majority of radio-frequencies are coming from and take steps to reduce the emissions. Laptops, televisions, routers, microwaves and just about every other type of electronic equipment will emit some degree of EMF. Turning these devices off (not on standby) while they are not in use can reduce exposure to radio-frequency radiation.

There are a wide range of EMF shielding devices available on the market including laptop cases, mobile phone and tablet covers, television shields and devices to protect against EMF emitted by all devices in the home. There also a range of devices available that can be worn on the body to shield against EMF while outside the home emitted from cell towers, Wi-Fi Tech and other sources.

There is some debate as to the efficacy of these types of EMF shields and how successful they really are at blocking different radio-frequencies. Some products claim to block up to 92% of EMF. While these claims may be a bit excessive, the EMF shielding devices have been proven to block a lower percentage of frequencies. It is therefore still recommended to limit exposure and turn EMF emitting devices off while they are not in use.

Keep updated with the latest news and results from research being conducted into the risk associated with EMF, radio-frequency radiation and 5G technology. Read up on advice from scientists and doctors as to how to better protect yourself from these potentially harmful frequencies. If in doubt, taking measures to protect yourself can do no harm and may potentially reduce the risk of being exposed to harmful radiation.

  1. Health, Fitness And Lifestyle Choices

A healthy mind and body are better able to deal with the increasing amount of EMF and radio-frequency radiation that we are being bombarded with. Eat a healthy diet and exercise in order to ensure that your body is receiving the nutrients it requires and is fit enough to function optimally.

Be aware of the symptoms of illnesses and diseases that could be the result of EMF or extended exposure to radiation. Consult a doctor if any of these symptoms develop, sooner rather than later. While it is a good idea to be proactive and not ignore symptoms of a potential health condition, it is also not advisable to self-diagnose or over-react to every small symptom.
